My mission as a doula and student midwife is to empower women to be actively involved in their pregnancies, childbirth experiences, and as parents through informational, physical, and emotional support; to the benefit of the full family.
In a culture where the stages of childbirth (including the early parenting period) have often been devalued, I seek to restore meaning to these powerful life experiences that a person never forgets.
Every pregnant person is entitled to give birth in the way that is most fulfilling for them and in accordance with their individual beliefs on birth. Natural birth means different things for different people. Birth is birth and deserves to be honored, no matter what your plans for place of delivery, care provider, or intervention use.
I respect the uniqueness of every birth and do not subscribe to the thought that it should be ‘normalized’ to fit some standard. Nothing can replace some personalized and continuous TLC in the childbearing year in terms of safety, comfort, and how a new parent feels about their process through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.
I would be honored to act as your birth doula whether you chose to birth at home, in a hospital, or in a birthing center and/or be an extra set of hands and ears as a postpartum doula in your journey into becoming a new parent.
